Wednesday, December 12 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the theatre of The Guild

IMAC  will host the first in a series of  ’round-tables’ for writers to table their scripts (finished or work-in-process) for constructive but professional feedback and critique from their peers. Writers can present scripts and concepts for any kind of work as long as they bring at least six copies of the script they wish to present for their ‘table’ to review with them. Tables will be kept small to allow each group to concentrate on what they are being presented and to allow for in-depth analysis, discussion and the open sharing of opinion.

For all those who really wonder how a potential audience would react to their work this is an excellent opportunity to find out how your work impacts and what reaction it creates – for those more experienced writers trying something different, you’ll get the feedback you are looking for!

Admission is free and open to members and non-members and there will be a cash bar.  See you there!

Learn the art of HD! IMAC will be offering three all-day workshops focusing on demonstrating the use of the Sony EX1 and EX3 and F3 cameras.  The workshops will be open to the general public as the admission will be $20.00 per person. Prince Edward Island 2014 – the 150th anniversary celebration of the 1864 Charlottetown Conference – is an exciting opportunity for IMAC members to contribute proposals for any project, event, presentation  or original work.  IMAC is eligible to submit proposals for funding and there is no limit on how many for each consecutive deadline, and IMAC is willing to accept any grant proposal from any member or group of members for submission to ‘2014’. Please be advised that the deadline for submission to IMAC will be Thursday, November 29th.

IMAC will not make selections, or operate as a jury.  Our goal is for the board to review all proposals to make certain of their viability with regards to the ‘2014’ requirements, thematically, practically and fiscally.  Our goal is to help each proposal be as strong and as focused as possible – thus the initial deadline of November, to allow feedback and revisions beforewe submit to ‘2014’.  All proposals should also be made in a spirit of growing our co-op, reflecting well on the co-op and having relevance to the co-op’s mandate, history and goals.

Calling all writers, film-makers and creative thinkers!  With today’s technology making a short film is easier than ever.  Or is it? Crafting a good script is always a challenge, with specific challenges that pertain to the short genre. IMAC APPLICATION FOR TELEFILM MICRO-BUDGET PROGRAM

This process has been organized by IMAC’s Telefilm Micro-Budget Subcommittee. We are all grateful for their good work; Mark Sandiford, Harmony Wagner, Errol Richardson, Nils Ling and Jason Arsenault.

For the sixth consecutive year, writers from Atlantic Canada gathered in Charlottetown for a week of mentoring in the craft of screenwriting. Eighteen writers worked with three mentors: Tom Shoebridge, Jill Golick, and Diane Barnes, developing projects for features, television, and the web.

One of the highlights this year was the pitch session delivered to the group by Marguerite Pigott, Head of Development for Super Channel. Her expertise and advice to the writers shed light on their approach to pitching and gave them a better understanding of the industry and how to attract the right kind of attention to their projects.

The participants this year were: Danielle Hébert, Randy Pelletier, Dawn Morgan, and Bunthiny Nou (NB) Hank White, Joe Leclair, Ann Verrall, Mary Hamblin, Rachel Bower, Sarah Gignac, Tara Reddick, Stephanie Sodero (NS); Marlene Campbell, Jason Rogerson, Molly Youngerman, Margaret Martinello-Magner, Steve Mayoff (PEI); and Joel Hynes (NL).

Thanks to all the funders who support this very important professional development activity: Telefilm Canada, Innovation PEI, Island Media Arts Coop, Super Channel, Astral Media, Bell Fund, and Independent Production Fund, and the City of Charlottetown.

Preparations for year seven are already in progress as we strive to make every year more spectacular than the last.
